Nigerian Gay Rights Activist Bisi Alimi Honoured By UK LGBT Magazine


Nigerian gay activist Bisi Alimi was honored on the 1st of Jan by a UK LGBT magazine for his work in the field of Education.
Bisi Alimi was listed in 2013 as number 94 in The Independent on Sunday 101 most Influential LGBT people in the United Kingdom. Same year he was listed as third most popular 100 of Britain and Ireland's secular thinkers you should know about, who aren't white men.
 In December 17, 2013, he gave a lecture at Free University in Berlin on the title: Homosexuality Is Very African As Much As It Is Nigerian.
 Bisi Alimi openly declared his sexuality, on Funmi Iyandas show "New Dawn" back in 2007, and due to the law and critism in Nigeria on gay people, he was eventually forced to leave the country due to heavy backlash for his openness. He now lives in London.
