Etisalat Nigeria Sacks 2,000 Permanent Workers Across The Country


With the rate of unemployment in Nigeria, Etisalat has yet added to the unemployment rate as they sacked more than 2,000 of their permanent workers all over Nigeria states on Friday, March 28. The Telecom company want to recruit contract staff/new staff to run the operations of the company as the company is said to be broke and can no longer retain the permanent work force.



Most of the staff affected expressed their disappointment over the company's decision which has thrown them back to unemployment field. Pay-off slips and cheques were handed to the affected workers.

Over 1, 200 workers were saked in Lagos, and more than 800 people were asked to leave in Kano. Some members of the graduate trainee who were also affected had spent years with the company only to receive mails about their sack at the close of business.
 The company has also terminated their graduate trainee program for all fresh graduates. The Company sent out emails that the program has ended without prior notice.
