Jamaican Dancehall Star Vybz Kartel Sentence To Life In Prison For Murder

Popular dance-hall star Vybz Kartel was today Thursday, April 3, sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in August 2011.
Vybz Kartel (real name Adidja Palmer)and four other co-accused were found guilty of murder last month after a trial that lasted over 65 days.
Kartel will have to serve 35 years in jail before being eligible for parole. While Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell and Kahira Jones has been sentenced to life in prison and must serve 25 years before being eligible for parole.

Andre St John has also been sentenced to life in prison and must serve 30 years before eligible for parole. The fifth accused, Shane Williams, was freed by an 11-member jury at the end of a two-month trial. The jury voted 10-1 to convict the four men in the longest murder trial in Jamaica's history.
