Sunday Teaching: Don't Live In The Past, Live For The Future

Hope you all are having a splendid Sunday with the Lord?...Mine is going great but yesterday was too hectic but thank God for today....Topic today centers on why we must live in the future and not in th past... Yesterday is gone, and as we are in today we look forward to tomorrow....The past is something we sometimes don't want to remember because it brings us pain and discomfort. Sometimes the past haunts us and reminds us of the things we did or something that was done to us. The past will always be the past and we can't change what has happened. Sometimes the things that we did brings pain and discomfort and we feel haunted by them. But the word of God calls that bondage.

Look at 1John 3:20; "For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things."
We often hold ourselves back from progressing forward in our walk with God simply because we have never dealt with our past. We often find it easier to bury our past then to deal with it.
Remember this, the only power your past has over you, is the power YOU give it. We all have done stupid things in the past. But we can't allow the things of our past to haunt us forever. That is fear and God calls that bondage.
As children of God, we no longer have to live in bondage to the elements of this sinful world. Look at Galatians 4:3 ; "Even so we, when we were children (of sin), were in bondage under the elements of the world:"
Before we can see and feel freedom, we must first believe and know that we are free within our heart before we can experience outward freedom. God set us free from our past, and the bondage that haunts us. Look at Romans 8:15; "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

Notice it says "again" , that's because we have been set free from bondage the first time at the cross when Jesus died for our sins, sicknesses and diseases. We don't have to go back to that bondage again. Now you can understand when I say; "the only power your past has over you is the power YOU give it."

 Be blessed.
