800,000 Workers Goes Unpaid As U.S. Shuts Down


According to CNN news the US Government failed to meet a September 30 deadline to prevent a shutdown of government services covering home loans to supplemental food assistance for children and pregnant women. Thousands of workers have been forced into unpaid leave (Those deemed as non-essential to the country)unsure when they'll be able to work or get paid again.
National parks have been closed including the Smithsonian Museums and the National Zoo.
Even the famous monument Statue of Liberty has also been shut down. News reports that 3,000 Federal Aviation Administration safety inspectors have been laid off. Others include National Transportation Safety Board‘s employees, accident investigators and past of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) staff. Federal employees who are considered essential will continue working.
 
Most furloughed federal workers are supposed to be out of their offices within four hours of the start of business Tuesday.

The shutdown could cost the still-struggling U.S. economy about $1 billion a week in pay lost by furloughed federal workers.US President Barack Obama blamed the government shutdown on House Republicans on Monday night but says his health care program is still moving forward.
According to a CNN/ORC poll, 68% of Americans think shutting down the government for even a few days is a bad idea, while 27% think it's a good idea.
