Photos: Nicki Minaj Launches Her Own Collection "Kmart "

Nicki Minaj knows celebrities-turned-designers aren't always taken seriously in the fashion world, but she doesn't mind. At an official launch event on Tuesday for her Kmart collection, the rapper said skepticism of stars lacking formal design training is 'understandable,' but she insists it's 'not about being a designer.'

The 30-year-old says her intention is simply to make clothes that she would love to wear. She told ABC News that she 'went through a billion different ideas' with designers in a bid to create something that would 'take Kmart to another level and make girls like me, feel like we can shop here.'

Nick Minaj posed seductively by a bubble gum pink Lamborghini at the launch of her K Mart collection in LA, flaunting a few close fit pieces from her line and Giuseppe Zanotti Crocodile Embossed Lace Up Peep Toe Booties.

 

The line for Kmart and shopyourway.com has Miss Minaj's personal style written all over it. It features midriff-baring tops, patterned leggings and curve-hugging dresses, as well as jewelry, clutches and bejeweled caps.

There's also a studded velour track suit and a faux fur trapper hat. A range of yellows, blues and pinks make up the color scheme for the fall collection. Miss Minaj, who models a number of outfits herself on the Kmart website, says Chanel, Versace and Herve Leger were among her inspirations.
