In every country there must be a President the people must have respected, disrespected, feared, termed to be a wicked president. I think when it comes to Nigeria our present President falls in the category of most disrespected..Lol. Now let's think, who do you think has being the most feared, respected, wicked Nigerian presidents?. Let history begin!.
According to OMG Ghana's blog, Ghana have had some great leaders, at least they’ve done their best so far to avoid war in the country regardless of our troubles. We have had some good, bad and highly-criticized leaders.
A leader for every country is the most important person, he is the person who makes sure the country is in good shape and he is the first person to be fingered when things go wrong. The bottom line is, a leader must be highly-skilled, good in management and must be able to lead a group of people. He must also be able to solve most of the group’s problems.
In Africa, our downfall and lack of progress has been heavily attributed to bad leadership as most of our leaders are known to either have poor leadership skills, love power too much or simply wicked. Let’s take a look at some of our past and current leaders and their leadership skills. Let’s walk
1.KWAME NKRUMAH – RESPECTED, LATER FEARED
Kwame Nkrumah was the first president of the republic of Ghana. He helped secure independence for Ghana. He was loved by many for standing up for Ghana but his love for power and vision to turn Africa into a united states (United States of Africa) with one president, made him do some evil stuff. According to rumors, Nkrumah started killing those who stood in his way. He had a great vision, was respected but later feared for his deeds.
2. I.K. ACHEAMPONG – DISRESPECTED.
He took over the country from 1972 to 1978. On January 13, 1972, the military seized control of the government for the second time under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel I.K. Acheampong. As a military leader, he was strong but was disrespected. Among the many reasons was the popular slang “Fa Wo To Begye Golf” where he was fingered for buying VW Golf cars for women he slept with. We still don’t know the truth about that.
3. J.A. KUFFOUR – HIGHLY RESPECTED
He was the President Of Ghana in the fourth republic from 2001 to 2009. Kufour was the chairperson of the African Union (A.U.) from 2007 to 2008. Kuffour left a legacy. He’s one of the most respected Ghanaian presidents of all time. Besides the many troubles that comes with Presidency, Kuffour was a quiet man and left a clean sheet. At least that is what we know. He left the chair clean and never poked his nose into political affairs anymore.
4. ATTA MILLS – DISRESPECTED
He was a very peaceful man, he preferred the slower way of doing things to the tougher and harshest ways. Atta Mills was the most disrespected and embarrassed president in history. He was rumored to have been slapped by J.J. Rawlings. He was constantly mocked and teased for many reasons. Atta Mills died a painful death which caused loads of pain and sorrow in the country across both ends of the political divide.
5. PRESIDENT MAHAMA – DISRESPECTED
He took over from Atta Mills, he went on to win the 2012 presidential elections. President Mahama since elected has caused a lot of troubles with his speeches. He has been fingered as inexperienced for the job. Since his leadership, the whole country seems to be in havoc, power issues, water issues, constant strikes, fallen cedi and so much trouble in the country. The country’s citizens have complained bitterly since Mahama took over the helm of affairs.
6. J.J. RAWLINGS – WICKED
He is by far one of the most toughest Presidents Ghana has ever had. J.J. became president through a Coup D’etat. He ruled with force and enforced everything. People who disrespected him or stood in his way were either lashed, beaten or killed. During Rawlings’ reign, there was a curfew law which forced all Ghanaians to sleep before 6pm, failure to do so resulted in severe punishments. According to rumors, J.J. Rawlings did a lot of evil during his reign and he ruled for over 20years. J.J. is still heavily involved in Ghana politics.
