'I cut her neck with cutlass for sacking me' - Houseboy Who Killed Magistrate

David Idah, the domestic aide of retired Chief Magistrate Funmilola Timeyin who was killed at her residence in Laderin Estate in Abeokuta on March 28th says he killed her because she sacked him(unbelievable!).

David, in an interview with Punch, said he worked with a Calabar Kitchen in Ojodu-Berger (Lagos) before he lost his job and got connected to work with the late magistrate who agreed to pay her N10,00 monthly. He said that she didn't pay him salary and so he stole two mobile phones, a DVD player, speakers, perfume, wrist watches, three trousers and four shirts belonging to her son in order to sell them, get money and leave.

She discovered he had stolen these items and invited the police who came in and was about to  prosecute him but the late Magistrate she pleaded with them to let him off the hook rather she will disengage him from his job. She wrote a letter to withdrawal the case from the police.


 A few days after he was released from police custody, he learnt of his sack, then he was angry and went back to the Magistrate home, jumped the fence and grabbed the cutlass used for gardening work. He laid ambush waiting for her to come out of the house before he cut her by the neck three times. She screamed for help which attracted her neighbors and vigilante in the area who searched and caught Idah in the bush behind the house where he had gone to hide and was trying to escape.  Efforts to save her life were abortive. She died before she could get to the hospital.

Idah was charged to court yesterday, Friday April 4th, on one count of murder and he pleaded guilty to one count charge of murder.
