591 Nigerians Registered To Help Fight Ebola In Liberia, Sierra Leone


 Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said yesterday during an updates on global Ebola Virus Disease that 591 have registered to help Ebola victims in Liberia. Prof. Chukwu, said there are six countries now having active cases of Ebola - Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, United States and Spain.

Nigeria is said to be an Ebola free country after having 19 cases of confirmed Ebola victim, 7 deaths.  He further stated that their will be ban on repatriation of bodies as well as inter-state transportation of bodies and the ban will continue  except where approval had been granted by the Minister of Health.

In a way to tackle the disease, Nigeria has contributed to join other international teams to fight the virus. not less than 591 Nigerians volunteers from different heath professions have  registered in three registers opened in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt. These free volunteer are now given trainings on protocols on how they would avoid catching the disease. He further stated that the President must approve on them  before they embark on the journey.
