Tribute: Military officers carry the coffin of former president Nelson Mandela into the Union Buildings in the South African capital Pretoria, the seat of government where he will lie in state for three days
Thousands of mourners gathered on  the streets of South Africa this morning to bid fareware as Nelson Mandela's body was moved to lie in state in the capital inside the building which once housed the apartheid government he fought for five decades. Nelson Mandela will be buried in his home village of Qunu in Eastern Cape province on Sunday Dec. 15th. Today marks Nelson's first of three days lying in state
