Another Tweet Fight Between Linda Ikeji, Omojuwa, El-Rufai’s Son & Others

I just had to cull this post because I couldn't get the whole gist and since it isn't my story I have to give credit to whom it is due to be given. This gist is so interesting so stay back and read the whole tweet fight below....

According to peacebenwilliams blog
Last night recorded an epic Twitter exchange between top Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji and another top Nigerian blogger and political commentator, Japheth Omojuwa. Let me explain what started the fight. There has been talk about a widely circulated article that tried to link the recent spike in Boko Haram attack to the suspension of the CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi.

The article was written by someone called Wendell Simlin. The article was circulated to bloggers and journalists on Wednesday with the third party email address, wendellsimlin@yahoo.com, but an analysis of the document’s metadata later revealed that Reno Omokri, Special Assistant to the President on New Media authored it. PREMIUM TIMES and some other news media contacted Reno to get his own side of the story but he refused to respond.
This story was really hot and got the whole Nigerian online community buzzing. But guess what? The queen of gossip and breaking news, did not carry this hot story on her blog. Don’t you find that a bit strange? I do! Naturally, it got people wondering why Linda would pass up such a juicy story. Just then Linda published a different article written by Reno (he used his real name this time…hehehe!) titled, Social Media in the Jonathanian Age. Linda said this on her blog before posting Reno’s article: “Before you people start, let me explain. Lol. Yes I did see all your comments about me not getting involved in the ‘Wendell Simlin’ scandal. I didn’t write anything about it because it was an accusation which could be true or false and I just refused to be pressured.
I decided to leave it alone until Mr Reno reacts to it but he never did… so…:-). Anyway, here’s another piece written by him…” I have two words for that intro: LAME EXCUSE. Most people also thought her excuse was lame including Omojuwa and one of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai‘s sons who uses the Twitter handle @HElrufai.
Now you can read the tweets…

After reading these tweets, do you feel Linda Ikeji is a SELL-OUT or not? While I’ll never buy her lame excuse for not posting the Wendell Simlin story, I also do not want to completely bash her for it, because I do not understand her reasons for choosing not to publish.

However, I must say that I can’t help feeling a little disappointed that she kept silent. Linda, God gave you a voice especially for Nigerian youths who have such impressionable minds. It’s time you saw yourself more as a change crusader than a gossip queen.
The question Mordecai asked Esther in the bible is so haunting and now I ask you same:
Linda, do you know if God raised you as a strong voice in Nigeria for a time such as this? Fighting injustice for you should not only end on the 5th day of each month for the unjustly murdered Aluu 4. It should be all year round. Do not get sucked into the evil our so called leaders are propagating.

Dare to be different. Stand for truth no matter whose ox is gored. You’re an admirable and hard-working social media visionary, use it to shine truth. I fully understand the pressures that come with blogging…whether to kiss ass or not to kiss ass. But stand for the TRUTH. I must also commend Omojuwa. He and Linda share a cordial relationship. It takes guts and integrity to tell a friend to the face that they did wrong.
And he made the albeit uncomfortable choice of telling his friend the truth…chiding her gently. I loved his choice of words. I kind of like the tweets of El-Rufai’s son. Harsh though but the truth. Then again, not everyone has the grace like Omojuwa to criticize with seasoned words. H. El-Rufai admitted so himself…hehehe!!
To end my analysis, Linda you really need to stop this your I-have-too-much-money talk. It really comes off as classless.

Biko Kamify, lock up with all the bible bants, I am of the opinion that she is morally and legally right to keep quiet on some issues, as for the money talk she was just making her point clear, in the most obvious way that can't be disputed.
